New At CycleSurgery
Orange was founded in 1988 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, where they are still based. They produce a wide range of mountain bikes, ranging from competition level full-suspension downhill beasts that have helped Orange-sponsored riders win downhill world championships in 2001 (Greg Minaar) and 2002/4 (Steve Peat), to the outstanding G series of hardtails that are featured at CycleSurgery.
The G4 pushes the G-series range into new territory. Using the same tubing as the G2 and G3, the 6061-T6 frame has been stripped back and brushed to reduce weight. All the usual frame features promote versatility but in a race weight package ready to hit the trails.
Top of the range G-series bike, the G4 is specced with more lighter, tricker components to make it fast responsive and a pleasure to take on the trails.

When choosing the right mountain bike you need to think about the type of riding you intend to do. If you are new to the sport or looking to ride less demanding cross-country trails then it may be worth looking at a bike with front suspension only or a Hardtail as it is more commonly known. Hardtails have between 80-120mm of suspension travel and are generally lighter than full sus' bikes. If you like to ride more challenging trails then a longer travel hardtail might be the right bike for you, as it's able to handle more difficult terrain, however it'll be slightly heavier with tougher components.
If the majority of your riding is going to be over rough technical terrain, or you plan on getting into downhill racing, then a bike with both front and rear suspension, or full suspension, is for you. Full-Suspension bikes have between 100-150mm of front and rear suspension travel, carry more weight as the strength of parts increases, and will often have bigger brakes, fatter tyres and stronger wheels.
