Rated 5 out of 5Â by teep Great product for long road trips
A few months before purchase, we borrowed the 2-bike model from a friend for a 1000 mile (1600 km) trip to hold a single bike. During that vacation we added a bike. The return trip had me nervous since the 2-bike model has just 3 anchor points and the fully-loaded rack wobbled considerably. With that in mind, we ordered the 3-bike model for ourselves. The additional anchor point dramatically cuts down on the motion of the rack on the interstate and holds up on windy country roads.
Car is a Mazda 3 sedan.

I've had this bike rack for 4 years and can say that it is the best solutions I've ever encountered for transporting my bike. It is extremely sturdy, can hold 3 bicycles easily and I love that it is lockable. I used to drive a Camry and when I switched to a Matrix I was concerned that it would not fit, but no problem... a minor adjustment and it works perfectly. I highly recommend this product.

I love my rack...I primarily use it for one or two bikes at a time. But occasionally I do carry three bikes and that's why I purchased this rack. It holds two bikes great and ands three "ok". If carrying three it's a good idea to have some kind of padding between the bikes as it is quite crowded. Thus the reason for 4 stars rather than five. I am very happy with the rack it's fast & easy to mount the bikes and relatively simple to mount the rack on my vehicle. I've looked at & used other racks.....I would DEFINITELY recommend these racks...also...I have purchased a different car since having this rack...I just adjusted it to the new car....simple

We routinely throw this rack on the back of our Ford Freestyle. The rack is robust and stable, and safely accomodates my wife's Specialized crossover, my daughter's Fuji Crosstown, and my old Nishiki road bike. It's an easy rack to both install and store.

I have had this bike rack for a year or so now. I have used it approximately 100 times on trips from 15 minutes to 400 miles. It has never failed me. I did super glue bike tube peices to the parts in contact with my vehicle, Subaru Outback. Doesn't fit Honda civic as well, but it did work for a short trip around town. Would buy again if mine wore out. Excellent value tool & much cheaper than a vehicle hitch & bike rack.

I bought this in 2012 and have been thoroughly impressed! The design of the Bones allows you to create different angles with the cylinder and legs to fit on different vehicles. It's so versatile to be able to convert any available vehicle into a bike carrier. I easily attached my Bones 3 (with bikes) to a Miata, Civic sedan, Mazda 3 Hatchback, and a Dodge Caravan. It can also be disassembled into a small space. Since the arms fold down easily when youâre not using it, I tend to keep it on my car all the time. The Bones 3 is really nice to put 2 bikes on, with plenty of space between them, or 3 bikes snugly.
The Bones 3 is amazingly light (~11 lbs?) and it holds the bikes very securely. I was once driving home from a ride with a friend and his (other brand) hitch mounted, multi-purpose bike/ski/board rack. My precious mountain bike slipped out of the rack and dropped on the highway at 75mph. I never worry about that kind of thing with my Saris rack.
I like it best for a hatchback because (although the directions recommend putting the lower feet on the bumper) you can put the all the feet and straps on the hatch so you can still open and close the trunk with the bike rack on (even with bikes on it!). On my hatchback the paint does wear away where the strap hooks grab on the inside of hatch (not visible from the outside) but to avoid that I would need to buy and install a hitch, and a more expensive and heavy hitch mounted rack. Also its wide enough for the rear windshield wiper to still work, at least on my Mazda 3.
I've used the lifetime warranty once when I stripped some plastic set screws, Saris sent me more than I asked for right away.
Overall I'm thoroughly satisfied with my Bones 3 rack.
