Manchester, Didsbury Store
At CycleSurgery Manchester we have the latest kit from the biggest names in the cycling industry: mountain, road and commuting bikes, clothing, components and accessories. If it is cycling-related, chances are we have it in store along with an unparalleled depth of knowledge to help you narrow down your choices. Everyone who works here rides which means you’ll get honest and reliable advice from people who are passionate about everything bike!
Now in our seventh year at the Manchester Didsbury Store, we have handled everything from building over the top custom bike builds, full on downhill race and super high end road bikes all the way through to bikes for commuters, tourers, beginners and kids. Our repair turnaround is still the quickest in the Manchester area. So come and see why we are the most highly respected bike shop in the Manchester area!
Our Cycle Surgery Free Workshop Session takes place on the last Thursday of each month. It includes basic cycle maintenance from fixing punctures to tuning gears and various other essential info to save you money and keep you rolling. Spaces are limited so please call or email the store to book your place or get more information.
We are proud to have some of the most helpful and knowledgeable staff in the north-west:-
Dan Heads the department as well as being the store Assistant Manager. He has loads of experience across all types of cycling and will get you pedalling in no time. His encyclopaedic knowledge means that even the most obscure questions and requests usually get answered and sorted in no time!
Steve is our head mechanic and wheel building ace, he has a wealth of industry knowledge – over 20 years and if Dan can’t answer something then Steve certainly will. He’s a bit mad but will do almost anything for a pack of custard creams!
Liam spends his winters selling Skis and Ski Boots and the summer selling all manner of Cycle product, especially Cube road bikes (he is a little biased owning 2 of them) but also many of our other brands as well!
James is our part-time mechanic/young padawan. James is a DH racer at heart but can also be spotted on dirt jumps and pump tracks. He's currently looking to get a long travel trail hard-tail built (once he saves his pennies!) and he's even been spotted riding a road bike - but that's just a rumour!
Michal has previously worked in various London CycleSurgery stores and has a wealth of commuter, touring and road knowledge that he loves to share with anyone and everyone! Along with being a professional custom frame builder he’s also been brave enough to work as a bike courier in London!
Dave has come from an MTB background having worked 3 years in Fernie, Canada where he’s tested stuff (and himself) to destruction. Having recently returned to the UK we’ve already turned him to the ‘dark side’ and he’s the proud owner of a Cube Agree GTC – when not working you’ll find him flying round the lanes of Cheshire and hills of the Peaks.
And then there’s me. Andy, the store Manager and ex-Cycle Supervisor. You’ll see me pitching in every so often (when I’m avoiding doing rota’s or other dull admin!) I own far too many bikes (according to my girlfriend) but not quite enough from my point of view. I’m currently experimenting on the Velodrome so a track bike is next on the list! My passion is Mountain biking and I’ll happily discuss the pro’s and con’s of wheel size or anything else for that matter with anyone who’s interested. I’ve ridden Fort William the MegaAvalanche in Alpe D’Huez and lived in Whistler for a year so know how to handle and crash a bike. Fortunately, having Cytech level 2 I can then repair it!
Our fully equipped workshop is available all year round with the fastest repair turnaround in the area. 99% of the time your bike will be ready same day, or in some cases, while you wait. This does not mean we compromise on quality. We just know bikes!
"Just a note to say many thanks to John (mechanic) who helped sort out my Specialized Tricross . . . fitted new cable, blocks and set up rear brake mechanism while I waited and also gave a few valuable tips for future reference . . .also to Steve (mechanic) for an informal chat and valuable info . . .great team and friendly staff, and all at very reasonable cost.
Many thanks to all at Cycle Surgery, Didsbury Store"
Geoff W, 12th March 2014
