After the success of Wahoo’s inaugural bike computer, the ELEMNT, the brand has extended their range with the introduction of the ELEMNT BOLT, designed with aerodynamics in mind.
In recent years, the aero ethos has become more and more prevalent in the world of road cycling, however, this mentality has never been applied to bike computer design… until now. The Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT is the first ever GPS bike computer to put the aerodynamics at the forefront of its physical design, and we take a closer look its concept and functionality.
So how does this aero mentality really weigh up? Well, Wahoo suggests that the design of the ELEMNT BOLT creates 50% less drag than its leading competitor and claims that up to 12.6 seconds can be saved over a 40km TT course when averaging 21mph.
The aero design of the Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT is not just a sleek head unit. The mount and computer unit are integrated to form one, wind slicing unit that cuts through the air extremely effectively. Wahoo claims that 1.5 Watts can be saved over a 40km TT course when averaging at 21mph.
“Wahoo haven’t left any stone unturned when it comes to the ELEMNT BOLT.”
The ELEMNT BOLT is also CFD (computational Fluid Dynamics) tested, meaning the unit has been designed with applied mathematics and physics to visualise how the air flows past the head unit. With innovation to this extent, it’s easy to see why the ELEMNT BOLT is the most aerodynamically advanced GPS head unit on the market.
The Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT has a 100% wireless set-up via an intuitive app for all smartphones. All processes are set-up through the app including configuration of workout pages, customisable settings and even link through to your favourite cycling apps and wireless sensors.
The ELEMNT BOLT features Wahoo’s innovative quicklook LED indicators which enable you to gain a new way to monitor your in-ride performance and stay connected with nothing more than just a glance.
The simple scroll through function allows you to zoom the screen into the performance statistics easily for a fast view of the data you need. Zoom through 5 incremental screens with your own curated data fields so you see only the data you require.
