The summer is just around the corner and long, dry days shredding the trails are no longer a distant dream. With this in mind, there is no better time to upgrade your ride and get the most out of your mountain biking this year. Whether you’re looking to take your riding to the next level, are in the market for a new bike or are just about to take your first steps into the world of mountain biking, CycleSurgery has everything you need to hit this summer at full speed.

Upgrading Your Current Ride

Upgrading the gearing and braking on a mountain bike can be a fantastic way of making your bike ride better and improve your performance on the trail. Weight, stiffness and braking capabilities can all be improved through upgrading your gears and brakes.

As the tyres are the only point of contact your bike has with the ground, and a contributing factor to the rotational weight, the tyres are an important part of the bike which should be considered to get the most out of your ride. Certain tyres will suit different disciplines or style of riding, which is a good starting point in gaining an idea of which tyres to upgrade to. A tyre with a slimmer profile with and a lower grip pattern tends to be more appropriate for cross-country styled riding or dry summer trails. When the riding gets more hard-core or the conditions are wet, then a wider tyre with a more aggressive grip pattern is more suited.
