Brompton has been making folding bikes for many years now, everyone folds down into a small package, little larger than the wheels, in around 10 to 20 seconds. All the componentry has been designed to suit Bromptons unique fold, keeping lights, cables etc out of harm’s way and, by folding them in, keeping the chain and gears away from clothing and luggage. Once folded the bike has no projections or loose parts, and will carry like a small suitcase.Excellent frame rigidity ensures that the cyclist's efforts are efficiently converted into a responsive, quick ride, while a full-sized wheel base delivers stability at speed. All of this adds up to a quality ride.

The 2nd of the Brompton ‘City Series’. A collaboration with multidisciplinary designer David Torrents resulting in possibly the loudest Brompton ever made.

This S6L has the S spec handlebars that offer a sporty ride position and a rigid, lightweight, positive feel. The pay-off is less room for front luggage, but Brompton didn't conceive it as a touring bike. It is also equipped with the 6 Speed (BSR - Brompton Standard Range) gears.

Spec: S6L in gloss blue and orange with exclusive saddle, grips and mudguards. Finished with S Bag featuring Torrents’ signature geometric patterns.

For many, this is the prettiest Brompton, and with its brake cables and high-tensile-alloy handlebar, it is the lightest. The grips, at about 935mm from the ground, are appreciably lower than on the M type, and 50mm further forward, giving a sporty riding position which complements the positive feel of these bikes.

N.B. The lower handlebars limit the front luggage options on an S Type: the C Bag, T Bag and Folding Basket cannot be used with the S Type's lower profile.

ABOUT BROMPTON

The first Brompton bike was built in 1975 from the South Kensington bedroom of designer Andrew Ritchie.

His initial prototypes were crude, but through a relentless refining process Ritchie hit upon a cycle that would go on to become the gold standard of folding bikes.

In recent years, the company has seen rapid expansion worldwide, and now has stores in cities including London, Amsterdam, Beijing, Tokyo and Barcelona.

But not content to rest on their laurels, Brompton has a large team of in-house designers and engineers who are constantly developing new accessories and improving upon the design of the bike itself.

Every Brompton is handmade in their London factory by skilled craftsman who have undergone an intensive 18-month training program, and who each have a unique signature which they stamp on the parts of the bike they work on.

This culture of accountability is indicative of Brompton’s commitment to quality, and helps to ensure that every one of their bikes is built to the highest standard.
