Genesis Datum 20 2016

Mixing the classic Genesis eccentric style with a super lightweight and stiff carbon fibre lay-up, the Datum 20 offers an unconventional twist on a carbon road bike.

With emphasis on versatility, the Datum is a bike you can have fun on over a variety of terrain, both paved and unpaved - it could be a gravel bike to some, and in the same way it could be a fast comfy road bike to others - adaptability is a paramount aspect in this bike. Large-volume tyres for added grip, disc brakes for increased stopping power and geometry designed for long-distance endurance rides means that you will not have to turn around should the tarmac come to an end. Set-up with the fantastic performance of Shimano 105 and a Fulcrum Racing Sport CX wheelset, the Datum 20 is a go anywhere bike in a lightweight package.

Technology:

Shimano RS505 Hydraulics
Shimano continue to pave the way in regards to hydraulic braking in dropbar format. Their new ST-RS505 shifter units pick up where the ST-RS685 left off, combining conventional mechanical 11sp shifting and dedicated hydraulic braking in a more affordable, accessible package. They offer consistent, powerful braking and exceptional lever modulation all backed-up by Shimano's legendary reliability. A real game changer.
Challenge Strada Bianca
Brand new, larger 700x33c Challenge Strada Bianca clinchers use the same proven tread as found on their Paris-Roubaix model on a larger volume 33c casing. Competeively light @ 355g considering there's a PPS (puncture protection strip) underneath the tread too!
Fender friendly
Naturally there are mudguard eyelets – x2 on the inside of either fork leg just above the caliper which are still low enough to provide a stiff, supportive mount but unobtrusive if not in use, and threaded eyelets on the back of fork crown, backside of the bb shell and underside of the seatstay bridge (it’s only there to provide a mounting point for a mudguard). 32/33mm tyres and 45mm full-length guards should fit fine.
